Lovely Las Vegas: Poor Agave

A happy little agave / century plant I walked past in a parking lot.

An sad moment for the agave in my yard.

This poor plant fell, unrooting itself and apparently had been infected by little grubs that love to infest agaves.

We had no clue! The plant nursery recommended we get a special powder insecticide that will prevent those little guys from invading again.

I'm so sad though... What a lovely agave... I hadn't been aware that they could be fragile and prey to insects.

Do you have recommendations on how to maintain a hearty agave? Or any stories of similar destruction? Please do share! I really would like to do a better job caring for this beautiful desert wonder going forward.
